Car was handy for what I needed it for. However, unfortunately it has a lot of mechanical issues. Car does not start straight away when key is turned in the ignition, at times it would not start at all and required a lot of patience and optimism - the sound coming from car was almost like when you have a flat battery where you hear the engine trying to turn over, where it clicks away in hopes the engine turns on. Towards the end of my trip the car would not start at all where I attempted to call owner but as it was very late it was understandable why call was not picked up but had I been more persistent I’m sure help eventually would have come. It took me a good 5 minutes to eventually get the engine going, whereas before it only took 30 seconds or so before engine would start which was stressful but not as stressful as 5 minutes trying to start car. The car also makes a rattling sounds when car is in motion so this created a lot of stress too as the rattling was constant. I unfortunately would not recommend this car to anyone in its current state as it does not feel safe to drive. That’s not a good feeling when hiring a car and I don’t believe Drivemate has any policy in place to ‘rescue’ you in the event a car breaks down so you’d then be left to fund a cab/uber back home which would also be very a very stressful and costly experience.

I’ve hired car a few times and it’s been a great reliable car up until this point. Service light is currently on and car is experiencing some mechanical issues that is impacting cars performance. Car revs and did struggle going up hills. Could just be that spark plugs need replacing but until car is serviced I wouldn’t hire car again in worry car will break down. ***All concerns reported to Drivemate team who said they would pass on this feedback to owner. I’d definitely hire car again but only once it’s been serviced which it hopefully will be in the very near future.

This was the second time hiring car and it was perfect for a day trip. The car itself is clean, no bells and whistles type car but that’s what I like about it. It’s reliable, will get you from a-b safely and because it’s only a street away from where I live makes this car very convenient. The only issue to note is the car can only be locked and unlocked via the app (keyless lock system) so sometimes you have to press the lock or unlock button a few times before the car registers this is what you’re asking of it and when car is returned you need to contact the support team in order to lock up car as this step is currently missing from the return process steps. Drivemate has some work to be done to improve user experience but once these issues are stamped out it will make the hire process a lot more stress free.

Car needs some serious TLC. Had a issue starting the car every time i turned it on. Makes creeky noises when turning corners and was filthy upon pickup. Tried to clean it up a bit more then i had too so the next driver wouldnt have the same experience i did before i returned it but it does need a really good deep clean.
