Easy and clear pickup/dropoff. The car itself drives really well but as per other reviews, it does need a thorough cleaning. I think the owner does clean it on the surface, but stuff like the cup holder had ants in it, there was loads of cobwebs on the mirrors and the air con had a funny smell coming out at first - think it’s just due to being unused for a while. It’s $40 a day which is a very good rate so can’t be too picky. Would use again

Incredibly poor experience when I picked up the car, it was really dirty inside and out, and there was no petrol when I turned the car on multiple error. Lights came up on dashboard saying faulty lights airbags not working urgent service required on the second day or third day of using it when I got home at night there was a light on at the back that I couldn’t turn off. I contacted Eugene at 10:30 PM. Didn’t hear back from him until 230. He said 2:30 AM. He said it was because the indicator was on when I woke up in the morning. The battery was flat. I’ve looked up the manual and if the belt, the battery was healthy that shouldn’t occur Eugene was incredibly rude about it said it was all my fault. It took me a day to get the battery fixed or recharged and then the following day I had another issue with the car which I couldn’t drive it for a whole Nother day so two of the days I wasn’t able to use it it was incredibly disruptive. expecting a refund.

The van can be remotely unlocked and locked using the drive mate app. The van itself is reliable and tough width lots of loading space but be aware that it is quite old and dusty now. During the rain the roof would hold moisture and drip over the next day whenever the van moves. some of my items had drops of water. Also the real and internal lighting don't always work well.

Took this Jeep on a 2 day trip around the Dandenong Ranges. The vehicle was easy to drive and performed reliably throughout the trip. It’s an older vehicle, not as tidy as the pictures shows, with a few dents and scratches on the exterior and cosmetic wear inside, but it started every time and didn’t fail us. The only note I would leave for Eugene is that we had challenges using the indicator when turning right. Overall, a practical and affordable option if you are looking for a straightforward SUV for a weekend away.

I would not hire this car again, but the owner was helpful. Check the owner's reviews to see that he has other vehicles with mixed reviews. - There was a check engine light at one point that resolved by restarting the car. It was also acting as if there was something wrong with the engine that resolved by restarting it - The car locked me out at one point by itself and armed the alarm. In my effort to stick the key in the door, the key broke in my hand because the door lock doesn't match the ignition - The only way to lock/unlock the car is with the app, which is time consuming and doesn't work if you don't have internet service (which I didn't) - The interior was not clean, and only 50% of a tank was provided I would recommend hiring a car that is in good condition and from someone with a consistently good track record.

So, Drive-mate was great and I got to drive a Jeep Compass for just over a week:). It's a comfortable safe drive and good for carrying stuff. I had never driven a Jeep before and felt like a 4x4 guy. We are from the suburbs though, so there was no 4x4 driving :). It’s been my first experience using Drive Mate and I was really impressed with my time using Eugene’s car. For its age, it drove immaculately, was very spacious and there was a lot of space for our equipment. I wasn’t expecting the car to come equipped with Apple CarPlay either so that was a massive bonus! I used the van with a couple of friends to travel the Great Ocean Road and it had been a godsend to have as much space as we did. The only downside I had with the experience I had with it was that in an area with no signal, I had struggled to open the drivers side door with the key provided, as the signal from the app wouldn’t communicate with the car to unlock. But once again, it’s just a reflection of the age of the car and it hasn’t put me off booking with Eugene again.

We rented this car for a 5‑day trip and were extremely disappointed with both the condition of the vehicle and the support we received. From the start the car smelled strongly of cigarettes and there was cigarette trash left inside, which was really unpleasant and made the whole journey uncomfortable. The dashboard warning symbols were also not working properly, and two warning lights were blinking the entire time, indicating there were existing problems with the car that had not been fixed. On top of that, one of the windows was clearly broken and had been badly glued before. It kept sliding down by itself while we were driving, meaning we constantly had to pull over to push it back up by hand. This was not only frustrating but also unsafe, especially on the motorway and in bad weather, as anyone could have broken into the car and the noise and wind made driving almost unbearable. Overall, we paid for a service that did not meet our expectations in the slightest. The car was dirty, smelled of smoke, appeared poorly maintained and unsafe.
