Car fine. Drive Mate very poor. First time using. Called Drivemate and was told cost for rental is day rate (was listed as 33c per km for the particular car rented) + per kilometre rate after 150km. Once I decided on the car to rent I called again and was told cost = Day Rate + Per Km from km1 + I must replace all fuel used. I called the owner of the car booked and he said he thought it was Day rate + per km after 150km + replace fuel. I completed the rental and got a 4th version of charges: Day Rate + 35c per km from km1 and I didn’t have to replace the fuel! Note the per km rate magically went up 2 cents at the end of the trip. 4 different versions! How strange and very off putting! At pickup there was a glitch in the App that after a good deal of time was fixed by calling Support. At drop off another issue arose with the lock box. Would not accept the code provided. I could not open it to accept the key. I messaged the car owner informing him I couldn’t leave the key in the lock box). I live 2km away so as it is late (no answer calling Drive Mate for help), we’ll have to sort this out on Tuesday, I put $20 Petrol in Thar car because I thought that was what I was supposed to do after all the contradictory instructs. This was a nightmare, extremely disappointing. I rented hundreds of times with Car Next Door/Uber Car Share, but my experience with Drivemate has been horrible

The car had problems and it was difficult to get help with refunds and drop offs so I spent a lot on Ubers… host was very apologetic though and tried to help as best he could. Support were relatively proactive however couldn’t promise a refund and weren’t sure how to solve some system errors
