The vehicle was fantastic and very useful for moving furniture due to its size. Was able to fit a 2.6m sofa in without need to stack or position side by side. Unfortunately, the vehicle brakes are currently badly warped making stopping distances much longer, and a concern for emergency braking. With the brakes repaired, this would be a great vehicle for future hire.

Was going to give it 5 stars but unfortunately after our trip, we were being charged constantly for something. Firstly, we were charged an extra fee of 51 dollars for parking incorrectly. The return address had zero parking available and there was no information or any help given on what to do in that case. We then received another extra fee of 76 dollars for leaving the exterior of the car “muddy”. This is my 5th rental in Sydney and I haven’t had any issues with these two things before, guys honestly just get an uber.

The car is in bad condition, they charged us extra money at the end of the trip, the mileage exceeds 389000, the brakes are terrible and it is not aligned the car is a driving danger. O don’t recommend it at all. Terrible and very bad experience

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences I have had. Throughout the day, the van presented multiple issues. After parking it and leaving it switched off for approximately 40 minutes while unloading some items, the battery completely failed and the vehicle became inoperable. In addition, the windows would not close, leaving the vehicle unsecured. I attempted to contact the host, Sandy, but was unable to get a response while dealing with the situation. I also contacted DriveMate and formally reported the issue. As I had several appointments and could not remain indefinitely with an unusable vehicle parked in a limited parking area, I had no option but to terminate the trip and leave the van at the agreed location after notifying all parties. The most frustrating aspect was not only the mechanical failure itself, but also being left without timely assistance while trying to manage the situation responsibly. I documented everything, communicated promptly, and acted in good faith throughout. Unfortunately, the overall experience was extremely stressful and inconvenient, and I cannot recommend this vehicle based on my experience.

Bad experience overall. I was charged $71 for “excess distance” even though my booking included 250 km and my trip was well within that limit. Still waiting for a proper explanation. On top of that, the car was in poor condition and the air conditioning didn’t work, which made the drive very uncomfortable. Would not recommend.

Extremely disappointing and stressful experience with this Drive mate booking. The vehicle was in poor condition and clearly not well maintained — it was even covered in cobwebs. After I parked at the delivery unloading location, the car would not start again. The owner was unhelpful and provided no effective support. I waited approximately 1.5 hours for a mechanic, which caused significant disruption to my day. I left the broken vehicle in a secure area near a business building. The owner stated over the phone that he would collect the car the following morning. However, the next day, the building staff had to contact him themselves and remind him to pick it up, as it had still not been collected. Several days after the incident, I received a call from support claiming that there were signs of an incident and even traces of blood in the vehicle. This is extremely concerning and confusing, as the vehicle had already broken down and was left in a safe, monitored location. I am still waiting for reimbursement for the expenses incurred due to this situation. Overall, this experience was highly stressful, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable

Neat car for day trips. Have used before but the quality has gone down. Steering wheel needs a cover as leather has come off. Window buttons need repairing, brakes are very touchy and the tyres are quite bold.

Plusses: Car drove pretty well and air conditioning was effective. Unfortunately there were a few negatives as well: We could smell engine fumes when the car was running and stationary for more than a minute or so. Most of our trip was in the country and they're was only a faint hint of fumes a couple of times when we stopped at lights on a couple of towns. But during heavy traffic on Parramatta Rd with frequent stopping and moving slowly the fumes were very noticeable and unpleasant. The host advised that fumes when idling were normal for this vehicle. The levers to put the seats back up (after putting them down to access the back row of seats) were VERY difficult to use (they were quite small metal levers only - I imagine that originally there was a plastic part which made the lever larger and easier to use). Some of the doors were quite difficult to open (a couple of ladies in our group were unable to open them). You basically had to slam the driver's door to close it properly. We had an oil warning display about 20km after picking the car up which caused a significant delay as I didn't want to cause damage by continuing to drive - phoning host did not work through the app and DriveMate support were pretty hopeless (although they subsequently assured me that it's not the experience they want their clients to have)

The car wouldn’t unlock or start, and I had to wait for help before it finally worked. Once running, the brakes didn’t feel safe, the windshield was filthy with no washer fluid, and there were spiders and webs everywhere inside. The car was really dirty. Easily the worst and most unsafe rental I’ve ever had, definitely wouldn’t recommend using the car.

The car was okay. there was some kind of noise on the roof while driving. The car smells fuel inside a lot so once you turn the engine off you could here a fun at the from very loud so I'm assuming that's cooling drown the engine. this should be a thing to address to avoid future hassle. also the cleanliness needs attention too and tyres were really low pressure so it would be great to consider a check out before bookings are about to be pick it up. otherwise you get to find these car just dropped on the street all dirty, smelly and full of spiders web. bit disappointing.

It was fun to rent! It is an older car and vibrated a lot when in park stopped at traffic lights. The interior wasn’t the cleanest and the exterior windows were dirty which made driving at dusk difficult.

Sandy is definitely a great host and communicator. Issues with car: 1) interior stinks partly due to the fact that car is parked next to 20 rubbish bins 2) no cruise control or it's doesn't work 3) to fold seats some lever is not functional 4) the very last seat is out of track and is very noisy throughout trip 5) SRS notification on dash boards-unsafe 6) back seat belt doesn't work 7) car is good to drive but with above concerns I felt it's not worth the price
